From frontline practice
to practice leadership.

I graduated from the University of Lincoln with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Social Work in 2015. My early work in adult social care included needs assessments, hospital discharge, care planning, mental capacity and best interests.

Working in statutory services and independently gave me a practical understanding of the decisions people face, the pressures on services and the importance of evidence that can be understood and tested.

Today, my professional work spans mental capacity assessments, independent expert reports, adult social care, safeguarding and best interests. My reports have been relied on in the Court of Protection, Family Court and Court of Appeal.

Building
Nellie Supports.

I founded Nellie Supports in February 2019 to improve access to independent social work and mental capacity assessment. The practice has developed a permanent multidisciplinary team, with work across adult services and the Little Nellies provision for children and families.

As Managing Director and Principal Social Worker, I lead professional standards, methodology and strategy. That includes developing the Nellie Standard and overseeing the systems that support supervision, review and independent professional judgement.

I am also developing TCAF, the Therapeutic Capacity Assessment Framework, and contribute to wider professional learning through speaking, training, conferences and podcasts.
